I have used the vest so far for hiking/running, forest trail running with the 2 x 500ml flasks received in the vest, but I also purchased a 2L hydrapack from Salomon separately and used it filled to 1000-1250ml. I used my phone, energy bars, a thermal jacket/blouse inside depending on the case/weather. I think that a compromise could still be found between practicality and usefulness in the sense that for the money given it should also be waterproof to at least 5k. It is true that there is a small protection gap, but I think this product is worth it and can offer more. I highly recommend it.
